Philanthropy

Highlights from Wu's extensive history in community service include: mentoring and tutoring middle school students from low-income households in underserved Los Angeles communities (Director of Mentee Relations, Bruin Partners); helping attorneys provide free legal aid to low-income families in Boston (Intern, Volunteer Lawyers Project); organizing grassroots campaigns to engage and empower young, disadvantaged voters in D.C. (Intern, Rock the Vote); and providing crisis intervention support to victims of domestic violence (Volunteer Victims' Advocate, 180 Turning Lives Around in partnership with local police).

Currently, Wu is the founder and chair of Leaders for Philanthropy, a student-run organization at the University at Buffalo School of Law. The organization partners with faculty, scholars, and nonprofits to examine how the law enables economic inequality and structural inequities—and how the law can be used to remedy these challenges. Additionally, the organization raises funds for local charities through sports-focused philanthropic initiatives. Through this work, Leaders for Philanthropy strives to enhance community well-being and demonstrate the law's potential as a vehicle for social good.
